Our Mission
With teaching, performance and appreciation of classical music as its foundation, the Innsbrook Institute offers opportunities for enrichment, enlightenment and inspiration by providing cultural and educational experiences in harmony with the natural environment.

Our History
The Innsbrook Institute, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, was established in 2001 by David Halen, concertmaster of the Saint Louis Symphony and the Aspen Music Festival Orchestra and Ed Boyce, Innsbrook Corporation Chairman. The Innsbrook Institute Summer Music Academy and Festival is the regions’ leading chamber summer music festival providing a combination of professional musical instruction for students and outstanding chamber music performances for patrons. This nine-day academy and festival facilitates the opportunity for music students, professional musicians and patrons to immerse themselves in live classical music instruction and performance in the beautiful and natural setting of Innsbrook Resort in Innsbrook, MO.

The Summer Music Academy draws young string musicians from across the nation to an intensive course of study with regionally and nationally recognized teachers and musicians. Students are placed in appropriate level chamber groups and receive daily coaching and rehearsal time, as well as private rehearsal.  Additional individual master classes maximize students’ exposure to advanced level pedagogy.  Students participate in professional and personal development seminars, lectures and workshops. Student performance is equally important; select student soloists are presented each evening prior to the festival concerts, students perform with their assigned chamber group and may be featured at student solo recitals.

Students have the opportunity to enjoy nightly chamber concerts which feature the professional musicians the students have studied with throughout the day, as well as regional and national guest artists appearing throughout the week.  Nightly festival concerts are a significant part of the students’ experiences. Seeing professional musician/teachers perform outstanding works right before their eyes gives immediacy to concepts and skills being introduced during the day.

The Summer Music Festival is among the largest chamber music festivals in the Midwest providing pre-festival concerts and fundraisers, and nine days of the finest chamber music performed by Academy students, professional musicians and guest artists. The Festival provides a wonderful venue for the Warren County community, as well as music lovers from across the region who enjoy the finest music performed in the intimate setting of Innsbrook.

The artists teaching and performing in the Academy and Festival include Missouri musicians with extensive orchestral and musical experience, as well as national and international musicians. The musicians have extensive coaching and mentoring backgrounds and bring a wealth of experience and insight to their relationships with the students. Because of the high quality of the musicians that gather each year, and the quality of their resumes, the Innsbrook Institute continues to be a destination for students, musicians and patrons alike.
